Camel Reproduction

For Bactrian camels, females reach sexual maturity at 3-4 years, and males around 5-6 years. Gestation period lasts 12-14 months. One calf is born, and twins are very rare. For dromedaries, gestation period lasts 12-13 months, and one calf is born. Baby camels are born without humps. These will start to develop once the calf begins eating solid food.
